What options are supported by ESRI for use with the ArcGIS License Manager?

    Answer

The Options file is a case-sensitive plain text document used to configure user permissions for various ArcGIS license features. The file should be saved as 'ESRI.opt' (version 8.x) or 'ARCGIS.opt' (version 9) and saved under:

    • ArcGIS 8.x: C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\ESRI.opt
    • ArcGIS 9.x: C:\Program Files\ESRI\License\arcgis9.x\ARCGIS.opt
    • UNIX: $ARCHOME/sysgen/ARCGIS.opt and $SDEHOME/sysgen/ARCGIS.opt

The following is a list of the options supported by ESRI for use with the ArcGIS License Manager.

    1. EXCLUDE: This denies users access to a feature.

    EXCLUDE featurename type name
    • featurename- ARC/INFO (for ArcInfo licenses), EDITOR (for ArcEditor licenses), VIEWER (for ArcView licenses), PUBLISHER (for ArcPublisher licenses), etc.
    • type - USER, HOST, DISPLAY, GROUP or HOST_GROUP.
    • name - name of user or group to exclude.
    Example: EXCLUDE ARC/INFO USER Avi

    2. EXCLUDEALL: This denies user access to all features served by this vendor daemon.

    EXCLUDEALL type name
    • type - USER, HOST, DISPLAY, GROUP or HOST_GROUP.
    • name - name of user or group to exclude.
    Example: EXCLUDEALL HOST interns

GROUP: This defines a group of users for use with any options.
    GROUP groupname usernamelist
    • groupname - name of the group being defined.
    • usernamelist - list of user names in that group.
Example: GROUP analysts Taylor Michael Michelle

HOST_GROUP: This defines a group of hosts for use with any options.
    HOST_GROUP groupname hostnamelist
    • groupname - name of the group being identified.
    • hostnamelist - list of host names in that group.

    3. INCLUDE: This allows users to use a feature.

    INCLUDE featurename type name
    • featurename- ARC/INFO (for ArcInfo licenses), EDITOR (for ArcEditor licenses), VIEWER (for ArcView licenses), PUBLISHER (for ArcPublisher licenses), etc.
    • type - USER, HOST, DISPLAY, GROUP or HOST_GROUP.
    • name - name of user or group to exclude.
    Example: INCLUDE ARC/INFO USER Avi

    4. INCLUDEALL: This allows users to use all features served by this vendor daemon.

    INCLUDEALL type name
    • type - USER, HOST, DISPLAY, GROUP or HOST_GROUP.
    • name - name of user or group to exclude.
    Example: INCLUDEALL USER Kelly

    5. LINGER: This causes licenses to be held by the vendor daemon for a specified period of time after the application checks them in or exits.

    LINGER featurename interval
    • Featurename- ARC/INFO (for ArcInfo licenses), EDITOR (for ArcEditor licenses), VIEWER (for ArcView licenses), PUBLISHER (for ArcPublisher licenses), etc.
    • Interval - time interval in seconds.
    Example: LINGER ARC/INFO 3600

    6. MAX: This limits usage for a particular feature/group - prioritizes usage among users.

    (v5.11+ vendor daemon only)
MAX numlic featurename type nameLimits usage for a group or user.
numlic - usage limit for this user or group.
featurename - feature this limit applies to.
type - USER, HOST, DISPLAY, GROUP, HOST_GROUP or INTERNET.
name - name of the user or group to limit.

    7. MAX_OVERDRAFT: This limits overdraft usage to less than the amount specified in the license.

    MAX_OVERDRAFT featurename numlic
    • featurename- ARC/INFO (for ArcInfo licenses), EDITOR (for ArcEditor licenses), VIEWER (for ArcView licenses), PUBLISHER (for ArcPublisher licenses), etc.
    • numlic - number of licenses.
    Example: MAX_OVERDRAFT ARC/INFO 2
    8. NOLOG: This turns off logging of certain items.

    NOLOG ???
    • ??? = what to turn off: IN, OUT, DENIED or QUEUED
    • To turn off logging of check-ins: NOLOG IN
    • To turn off logging of check-outs: NOLOG DENIED or NOLOG QUEUED

    9. REPORTLOG: REPORTLOG [+] report_log_path

REPORTLOG specifies the report log file for this vendor daemon. It is recommended to precede the report_log_path with a + character to append logging entries; otherwise, the file is overwritten each time the daemon is started.

On Windows, pathnames that include spaces have to be enclosed in double quotes. If lmgrd is started as a service, the default location for the report log file is the c:\winnt\System32 folder unless a fully qualified path is specified.

    10. RESERVE: This reserves licenses for a user.

    RESERVE numlic featurename type name
    • numlic - number of licenses.
Example: RESERVE 1 ARC/INFO USER Avi

Everything in an options file is case sensitive. This file can be created using any text editor.

Below is an example of an option file 'ESRI.opt' that excludes and reserves a license for certain users.

    #START

    EXCLUDE ARC/INFO USER Alpha

    RESERVE 1 ARC/INFO USER Charlie

    #END

      • depuis lmtools OU
      • depuis les services windows OU
      • reboot du serveur
